We travel from Arizona to Ohio every year to see McGuffy Lane with a large group of fellow-Arizonans. They have beautiful harmony and a real fun sound. Their CD's always put us in a good mood and get us up dancing. Can't wait to see you in Glandorf in September.

Another solid effort from McGuffey Lane
author: Greg Cielec, Cleveland author/reviewer
Columbus country rock legends McGuffey Lane’s Wood is an all-acoustical disc, featuring fourteen selections, nine of them unplugged versions of songs dating back to their early days as a popular late70’s bar and college band. Amongst the highlights are several songs never released on either vinyl or disc, “Old Taylor” and “Railroad Song,” both of which were concert staples in the bands early days. A pleasant surprise is the return of original drummer Dick Smith, who guest stars singing lead on “On the Line” and “Til the End,” two songs slated for the band’s 1980 debut album that were deleted when Smith left the band.
Another guest on the album is Robby McNelley, son of McGuffey Lane founding member Bob McNelley, who plays inspired guitar on the remakes of his late father’s songs.
Of the new songs, John Schwab’s “Runnin' Wild & Free” and “Nobody But a Fool” show these seasoned Ohio veterans can still come up with quality performances.
This album is for those out their raised on the Lane, as well as the likes of Marshall Tucker and Pure Prairie League, who like their country rock a little less slick than what is popular today. The current McGuffey Lane line up, lead by original members John Schwab and Terry Efaw, and including a Who’s Who of Central Ohio musicians, make Wood an honest album filled with good songs performed by time-tested talented musicians who can still turn a lick or two.
I highly recommend this album.
