“I am.” is Meetu Chilana's debut cd comprised of six all original tracks using English, Hindi and Punjabi in an eclectic mix of songs.

“I have always made it a point to be vocally versatile,” Chilana said. “I’m excited that it has all come together in this album.”

The title track, “I Am,” is a commentary on the culture and obsession of labeling everyone, be it class, race or religion. In the chorus of the title track, Chilana uses her soulful voice to articulate the need for acceptance of individuality; “I don't need you to glorify me. I refuse to justify me. I believe I'm who I'm meant to be. I am who I am.” Coincidently the name of the track is also somewhat of an acronym for “Indian American"- a definitive description of who SHE IS.

The songs on the album range from a Bhangra club track called, “Come and Take It,” to the introspective ballad, “Changes.” One track on the EP may sound familiar to some. Last year Chilana released an award winning music video, “Lost,” which is the title track for the upcoming movie, “Hiding Divya.” "Lost" will finally be available to the public on the release of this album.

Producer and Musical Director of “I am.,” Samrat Chakrabarti said Meetu’s voice cannot be categorized.

“She can switch from one style of music to the next effortlessly,” he said. “Her new album showcases songs that have a western accessibility with a flair of eastern melody.”
