Album Notes

This is a reissue of Lori's 1998 debut CD w/ brand new artwork and 3 bonus tracks. The bonus tracks include 2 previously unreleased songs and a live version of the title track Paper Wings and Halo. The Boston Globe writes, 'more than any young songwriter on the scene today, her work carries that stirring blend of stark intimacy and universality that marks folk form at its finest. She brings embracing, real-life aesthetic to her emotionally searing love songs.' In March of 1998, Lori McKenna quietly unveiled her self-released debut CD Paper Wings & Halo, which was selected as one of the top ten albums of 1998 by The Boston Globe and heralded as 'the most impressive local debut since Dar Williams' Honesty Room in 1995.' WUMB 91.9FM voted her New Artist of the Year, and this spring Lori won a Boston Music Award for Outstanding New Contemporary Folk Act. Lori played Lilith Fair, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and the Newport Folk Festival this summer of '99. For tour dates, mailing-list and more, be sure to check out her website.

A CD you can listen to from start to finish!!
author: Dani Mae
This CD is one I can sing along to every song and not skip over a couple of bad fillers. Lori's storytelling is a great escape. She takes you on a walk and before you know it you just get caught up in the moment of a song. If you like this one, buy Kitchen Tapes too.

Wonderful CD full of feeling!
author: Shoegirl
I saw Lori McKenna on Oprah last year and I loved both her lyrics and her style. I love when she sang Ruby's Shoes. I cried! I went to her website and I was delighted to find that she had so many CDs. Paper Wings and Halo was the first CD I bought for my new collection. I am so hooked! I can't stop listening to it. The songs are so full of feeling. My favorites are As I Am, What's One More Time, Hardly Speaking a Word, Paying the Price, Don't Tell Her and Holy Water. The lyrics to What's One More Time give me chills! These are words that every woman has experienced at some point in her life. Lori McKenna captures the feeling flawlessly. A star is born! www.shoegirlcorner.blogspot.com
