Album Notes

At age 22, Erin McKeown, proficient on bass, piano, electric and acoustic guitars as well as banjo and mandolin, has come a long way in the brief three years she's been plying her art.

A Virginia native and current resident of Providence, RI, McKeown is categorically elusive, a characteristic she attributes to her restless nature and penchant for musical adventure.

Self-financed and written and recorded on weekends over a period of 3 months in a farmhouse in Western Massachusetts, McKeown's sophomore release DISTILLATION boasts of vocals, drums and guitar sounds that were captured with a single tube microphone, in stairwells, kitchen cupboards, and bedrooms.

Erin has toured the country for the better part of three years, wooing audiences with her enthusiasm, charm and quick-witted honesty.

To date, her two cassette-only and CD re-issued releases have sold nearly 7,000 copies, all almost exclusively at gigs and over the internet.

As McKeown bops, strums, swings, rocks, and struts her way through pop, jazz, blues, and Tin Pan Alley, DISTILLATION might be the biggest surprise you hear this year.
