Album Notes

"Through the Doorway" is an interesting blend of aggressive acoustic guitar and passionate lyrical melodies recorded in raw studio form. With parts of the Cd recorded entirely live and other parts meticulously layered in the studio, you will appreciate the diversity in style and sound. This sophomore release from Micah McLaughlin continues to challenge those who truly stop and listen to his lyrics and their powerful message.

"Through the Doorway" is primarily focused on challenging the body of Christ to break free from religion, and grab a hold of the beauty of Jesus. Those who are tired of the same old church music, or stuffy religion, will find this CD refreshingly life giving. Musical influences: Matt Wertz, Jason Upton, Goo goo dolls, Derek Webb, Matchbox 20.

Lyrics from "Set you Free" 2nd track:

What some men are preaching is not good news at all
A perversion of the gospel, Self-Righteous are called
From the pulpits and pews where the sermons are LONG
And the DRUNKS and the PROSTITUTES aren't singing along

Cause all of the ones JESUS was preaching to
Are still in the alleys and still destitute
The story they're singing is "come all and come one"
As long as you're white, middle class, and you're from
The right side of town, and the right side of money
Could I go to that church or man would they shun me

I did not come to condemn you (2x)I've come to set you FREE

I did not come to comdem you, Ive come to set you free. The second song on Micah's new CD is the one of the best writen songs I have ever heard. The lyrics spit the truth, call out injustices of the church and calls to the lost and broken with love. It shows the charactor of Christ with Micah's passionat convictions about the subject.
