Album Notes

Michael Coppola can be found at East Coast major guitar shows such as "The Classic American Guitar Show" in Long Island, "The Great American Guitar Show "in Philadelphia and the "Chet Atkins Appreciation Society" convention in Nashville, dazzling listeners with his amazing technique on the 9 string guitar which he is pioneering . He plays chord clusters, Lenny Breau type harp lines (cascading harmonic lines with all real notes) as well as all the traditional guitar techniques. He plays fingerstyle in every genre of music he approaches, including classical, jazz, country and rock.
In 1980 Michael won Ovation Guitar's national competition. Since then he has won numerous awards including the John Lennon Song writing contest in 2002 (jazz catagory). His album "Return of The Hydra" was a top ten critics choice in CODA magazine and was also chosen as a top choice on the Jazz Canadiana web site. Reviews have consistantly reflected his mastery of technique, musicianship and individuality (see www.9string.com).
Michael's latest CD "Monster Guitar" is a collection of mind boggling arrangements from the classical, rock, jazz and country genres. This is the first CD in which he strays from the jazz style for which he is known.

After ordering the CD and hearing more of the songs I was thrilled to listen to them all. Cliffs of Dover, The wind cries Mary and Little Wing are great. Good Job. Tom
