Album Notes

The songs in Pick of the Centuries were selected from the writings of Ruby McPherson, whose compilations of 100 entries are called First Century, Second Century and Third Century. She will soon be finished with her Fourth Century. The 'First Century' of song lyrics has been published as a book and the link where you can buy it is at the left near the bottom as well as pics, more info, and some cool links including one where you can read some of her writngs on her personal webpage. Be sure to check out what she's been up to lately with the Redneck Rock CD! Ruby is outspoken, vivacious, empathic, emotional, analytical, aggressive, energetic and determined. Ruby has lived a life of endless learning experiences and constant changes. She has been over in a dark corner pouting in defeat, on the thin edge of anger, stressed out, even suffering from loneliness a bunch of times, but she has also been in the spotlight shining and known the joy of victory and the purity and complexities of love a lot of times. Ruby has found a way to combine her hostilities and difficulties with her outgoing, articulate, and loving (but very matter of fact) philosophical nature, and this CD is an example of a writer/songstress for the common man/woman in these modern times. Ruby was singing at the early age of four and has been influenced by the great country artists of yesterday and today. Ruby loves performing their works but yearns to share her songs with the world. If you like country, you're gonna really appreciate this seasoned artist.

Different style, yet very entertaining, full of feeling
author: Shirley R. Bledsoe
This is a different type of country music. The songs on this CD were written with a lot of feeling, and that feeling pours out to the listener. It's a bluesy, twangy, type of country. The kind of music that you find yourself singing along with and tapping your toes to. I wish this artist the best of luck with this CD and each new one that follows.
