Working out a of small studio in Chinatown, New York based electro-pop duo Macaque crafts dense and sweet songs making more sound than you would imagine.
Formed in the summer of 2005, they've been creating lush beats and shimmery melodies tied neatly together with driven bass lines ever since. Macaque is comprised of the talented vocalist Evers, whose previous projects include the Chicago based band Basic Shapes and Chris Hart, DJ/programmer, who previously played Soundlab with Dizzee Rascal and the Sound Cultures Festival at Cornell University. Macaque has played at highly regarded New York City venues such as Cakeshop and sold out performances at MonkeyTown as well as underground dance parties and events. With humorously insightful and intimate writing, enticingly danceable beats and undeniable charm, Macaque is moving closet romantics to the dance floor!
Macaque likes: poppy beats, high functioning bass lines, baroque music, the misuse of the English language on Japanese and Chinese beauty products, textured noises, self-deprecating humor. Macaque dislikes are: 24 hour attention getters, hammers and tongs, impending doom, blatant trickery, humorless vulgarity, mauling, bad pedestrians.
Macaque reacts with lightning bugs, Macaque gets mauled by bears.
