During the years of 2003-2004, The War on Terror was nearing a frenzy. With 'Shock and Awe' still fresh on his mind, Vander Boegh went to his mundane job at a neighborhood bar and frequently witnessed brutal acts of violence and revenge. Vander Boegh began noticing similarities in The War on Terror and common street violence, and began pondering the philosophical differences between them. Both acts of aggression spring from the same need: the desire to honor fallen friends and comrades.

And so The Erinys began to take shape. With the root question being, "when is violence justified?" Vander Boegh spent the next year and a half writing and recording the stunningly original rock opera, detailing the thought processes, anger, and pathos that he witnessed first-hand.

Aided by his friends from his hometown music scene (17 musicians in all), The Erinys runs the gamut of human emotion and suffering. The music is non-stop, each song blends into the next and is accentuated by various sound effects, creating the effect of a decidedly post-modern musical theatre.

The sound of the album defies typical genre conventions, but listeners can easily discern influences from two of Vander Boegh's inspirations: Marilyn Manson and Nirvana. Industrial sounds. Booming guitars. Recklessness. And powerful choruses make each song catchy, poignant, and memorable.

The Erinys is his first major vision to be heard in its intended form. Mastered by Mike Bozzi (Janet Jackson, Jurassic 5, Young Buck) of Bernie Grundman Mastering, and accompanied by a 20 page libretto, this independently produced CD holds its own against the majors.
