REVIEWS

Melodious and thought inspiring.
author: Eileen Rackus
Each song on this album is well put together and well written. The chemistry between McVicker and the Spooners works wonderfully throughout this collection. I enjoyed the feel of all songs and am sad that there are only four on this CD. I am anxiously awaiting the artist's next CD. I love to drive and explore the country side. The first song, "Put You Down" is a great travelling song. The beat is fun and the melody is a travelling melody. The words touch the heart as we all can relate to missing someone who is now gone from our lives whether by our own decisions or enforced by circumstance. "Foolish Things" interwoven syncopated melodies and rolling guitar arpeggios blend wonderfully with the message of the song. A man looking for the soul wrenching answers of life, alone in his bed. How small we all are when compared to the grandeur of the world which surrounds us. "Unforgiven Blues" cuts to the heart. A sad story of a person who can't face who they are. Always finding a way to blame others for their inability to see nothing but the darkness in their own heart. All alone because of it. Wonderfully written and emotionally sung. Okay, I really loved the guitar work in "Fallen Man". Nice sound and very tasty solo. Another well written piece of music. A man deep in a troubled period of his life, striving to find a way out of the dark place in which he finds himself trapped. I really liked the transitions between the verses and the bridge in this one. I recommend this CD if you enjoy the folk/blues style of older Petty stuff or Dylan, you will love this CD.

With vocals that cut through the air and penetrate the souls of those with open ears, songs like "Unforgiven Blues" sensitize the listener with carefully woven, melodic sounds that are full of emotion and inspiration. Then "Put You Down" is full of catchy hooks and instrumentation that grabs the attention and holds it. Chris Lewis A&R Shut Eye Records
