Album Notes

Marion Dries and the Dissidents are:
Marion Dries, Jyn Yates, Randy Tate and John Dries.

Our music can be described as edgy roots rock, but we can range from punk to smooth classic rock.

This band is the realization of a long search for a combination of musicians with same passion for writing music, love of the art and science of recording music, desire to give excellent live performances, and a dedication to musical growth.

Our backgrounds and tastes range all over the musical spectrum, but a few of our influences that come to mind are:

The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Merle Haggard, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Talking Heads, Velvet Underground, Husker Du, Adrian Belew, Brian Eno, Yes, Throwing Muses and the Police, to name a few.

We record and produce our own music and occasionally other bands who have a lot to offer or say but don't have access to quality studios or engineers. We have just released our first CD, Change the View as well as the CD Breakthrough for SOL17 of Louisville, Kentucky (a really talented trio).

We had a great time making Change the View and shed our share of blood sweat and tears making the album. We learned a great deal about the technical and artistic aspects of how to give inspired performances in the studio and then craft a moving and, hopefully, technically excellent recording of that performance. We are really excited about how this first Album came out and hope you enjoy it too.

Our goals for recording projects are to create music which we love and are moved by, to be prolific, and for each new album to surpass the previous in technical and artistic merit. We are already back in the studio working on an even more ambitious project.

If you like our music or have seen one of our live performances and had a good time, we hope to see you at our next show or just drop us a line and say hi at www.mariondries.com

Nice rock band with classic sound and good original tunes. Reminds me of classic rock and 80s mixed together with some roots influence.
