"His lonesome, clear voice easily carries an aching beauty through introspective songs such as "Untethered" and "The Rum Diary."
"The Story (Life After Hemingway)" is a lyrical stand-out, a kind of anti-"Starry Starry Night" for serious students of the heart." - Steve Klingaman- Minor 7th Magazine
Marc Douglas Berardo's third Hayloft Records Release "As You Make Your Way" is here. Produced by multi instrumentalist and soul scientist, Professor Dick Neal, As You Make Your Way contains 11 tracks of sparsely arranged, acoustic guitar based storytelling. Equally at home in a living room or a dark barroom, Marc's songs touch on real life observations, using a poet's ability to say so much with one line. Pedal steel guitars, dobros, banjos and mandolins combined with Hammond Organs, hand drums and electric slide guitar, give the CD a lush and ethereal sound that feels modern but also earthy.
Based in Connecticut, Marc has spent the last four years performing in a variety of venues throughout New England, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Texas, California, Delaware, Pennsylvania, the Carolinas and Florida. He has played everywhere from bars and coffeehouses to theaters and national festivals. Places such as The Postcrypt Coffeehouse in New York City and The Saxon Pub in Austin, Texas. Along the way he has shared the stage with performers such as, Little Feat, Donna the Buffalo, Peter Rowan and His Texas Trio, Boston Music Award winner Jenny Reynolds, fingerstyle guitar master Sam Pacetti, Guy Clark, New York City jazz great KJ Denhert, fiddler Vassar Clements, bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley, Falcon Ridge Most Wanted Trina Hamlin and Kevin So, The Buffalo Springfield, Nashville's Jim Lauderdale,Texas soul singer Ruthie Foster, humorist Diedre Flint, Norman Blake (Oh Brother Soundtrack), 2002 Telluride and Kerrville Folk Fest winner Meg Hutchinson, Steve Forbert and Eric Anderson among others.
In 2000 Marc Douglas won first place in the legendary Suwannee Springfest Folk Festival Songwriting Competition in Live Oak, Florida. In 2001 Marc Douglas was chosen to perform in the New Artist Showcase at The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale, New York along with the best of the nation's emerging performing songwriters. In May of 2003, Marc was one of only three finalists in New England's prestigious Rosegarden Coffeehouse Performing Songwriter Competition in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

Regarding Just One. September 11th is a odd event. It is something that one would think would have inspired so many songs but in reality there have been few. I think it truly speaks volumes about todays popstars and how out of touch the main stream entertainment industry is with the average working guy. However, it also is indicative of how hard an event it is for people to get their hands around. So many emotions, so many images. That's the beauty of "Just One", in one simple song, about a simple man, Marc manages to bring out all of those feelings without making it feel forced or artifical. Recently I had the pleasure of hearing Marc perform this song live, sitting next to me was a well respected musician who stated to me, "To write a song like that once in my life...... Man"
