The Horizon Music Group is proud to announce the February 2011 release of Downhauler, the new album from songwriter and keen observer Marc Douglas Berardo. This new collection of songs continues Marc’s collaboration with long time producer Prof. Dick Neal (Hoe,The Mockingbirds). The CD features performances from among others: Nashville multi instrumentalist Liam Bailey (Bill Frisell, Rodney Atkins), the signature harmonies of Brother Chris Berardo (Chris Berardo and The DesBerardos), Violinist Larry Deming (Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, James Taylor) and Americana Music sensations
RED MOLLY on the soulful ballad “Quiet Places.”

Regarding the new CD, Marc says: “All of the lyrics on Downhauler are, in some way, about searching for home, the possibility of renewal and the promise of adventure. I began to write this particular set of tunes over a few days while staying in the Castillo Real Hotel in St Augustine, Florida. The Spanish influence of the old town and the hotel got me to thinking about exotic locations like Cuba and Bimini. I started looking at maps and picking other places to go. I definitely had some travel fever. The characters in the songs are all at some kind of crossroads or transition (Ruby, Smokegun Jack Daydreams, Something Real, Havana).They are contemplating about making a life somewhere else, lighting out for new places and rectifying where home was for them (Time to Go, Everything Will Be Alright). I made up a few more numbers up about some of the people that I have gotten to know in and around my own home base of Westerly, RI (Bottom of the Bottle, Passing Through, Lonely Town). After a while, they felt like they belonged together on a record. They felt connected.

Downhauler debuted @ #20 on the Folk DJ Radio Chart, April 2011

OUTstandING!
I bought this C.D. at a live show that I attended here in Texas this Summer. Marc Douglas Berardo's music is MAGICAL! There was not a song that I didn't like on this entire C.D. It is played by my husband and I quite often in our Jeep. Great road music. There is a feeling of sharing Marc's life experiences with him and the way he writes fills our heads with the most beautiful images of the sea and his road trips. I Love, love this C.D. and would recommend it strongly to everyone. It is a no brainer and a sure hit. -Lisa Pappas

Sweet, Soothing Adult Lullabies
Marc Douglas Berardo is a fantastic artist, the kind of cool guy who starts playing in a coffee shop and has the whole place singing along before his first song is through. This is a collection of sweet, soft, feel good tunes that even my preschoolers can't help but dance and sing along with. Sit back, take a few deep breaths, relax, and enjoy!

Saw Marc play and then bought the CD! So good!
I saw Marc play with the Pousette Dart Band in Maine and was blown away. He is a great performer. Sometimes, however, that doesn't mean the CD will be great. However....
My husband and I have been playing this non stop since we bought it. We love Bottom of the Bottle, Passing Through and Something Real and Cuba 1953. Much of this CD really ROCKS! It just GROOVES! But there is another side. Quiet Places (with the group RED MOLLY, who I also love) is just spine tingling. Buy this. You will be glad you did.

DOWNHAULER
Marc Douglas Berardo is an amazing artist. He has the ability to bring you right into the story of his songs. DOWNHAULER is a great collection of these stories...some make you want to dance and others that pull your heartstrings and make the tears come. This CD is a must have :)

Downhauler = AWESOME!
Downhauler is AWESOME! (Insert stereotypical fan adoration here).

Marc’s songs remind me of Billy Joel, and I mean that as a compliment. However, he has his own sound and it’s great. I’ve heard Marc live and I love his “made up” songs about ordinary people. On CD his sound is enhanced with different instruments and vocals.

Marc’s music is heartfelt and uplifting, and he seems like a great guy that you’d like to invite over for a beer. Or a soda if you don’t drink. Either way.

★ Texas Approved ★
This is a great CD to listen to in the car or while at work (or really anywhere you please). Marc takes stories about people and places you may never have heard of otherwise and sets them to beautiful music. (Although names/places have probably been changed to protect privacy or maybe they just rhyme better). In addition to songs written with thoughtful lyrics and some encouraging words, Downhauler is full of tunes that can easily get stuck in your head.
