"Dial out, sign in, and you’ve just begun listening to Trash Eighty the debut album from MANNEQUIN DEPRESSIVES. With a whopping 14 tracks that clocks in at over 73 minutes of music, Trash Eighty definitely gives you some bang for your buck.
MD has made an album that makes for a familiar fun return to a time of the Rubik’s Cube, Jellies, Esprit Bags, and Space Invaders.
Trash Eighty is an album that builds steam, finally hitting stride around track 6 “Break”, a great little synthpop track that features the catchy, bouncy melody performed on a glockenspiel. Erasure fans are sure to love this track.
Trash Eighty features a wide variety of soundscapes from the neo-industrial track “Headspace” to the wonderfully heartfelt and tender piano track “Untitled”, to dance classics “Reach” and “Cyberdelic”.
Overall Trash Eighty exhibits interesting instrumental arrangements and production. As a compilation that features the evolution of the band from inception in 1998 until late 2001, the album shows a band that has matured greatly. It is clear the next release from this band will be a creative breakthrough."
