Album Notes

Michael DiGioia (pronounced D-Joya), originally from Chicago, is an award-winning New York based actor/singer, who has appeared Off-Broadway, Off-Off Broadway, and in Regional theatres throughout the U.S. and abroad, including some cabaret and concert work. Most recently Michael was seen in a staged-reading of “WALL ST. FANDANGO” by veteran Broadway playwright Murray Schisgal at the Theater For The New City in Jan. 2011, and at The Actors Studio in Dec. 2010. His career has varied from classical plays to musicals, and has now moved towards independent film work - one of which “SLIPAWAY” was a selection at the 2009 KENT FILM FEST., and another “THE DAWN CHORUS” was a selection at the 2007 SUNDANCE FILM FEST. RECENT WORK: 2010-2011 marks the completion of three very eclectic indy films and roles which Michael appeared in (release dates TBA): in "JIHAD" dir. by Solon Quinn, 7053 Prods., he plays a psychotic police officer; in "FINDING HOME" dir. by Savanna Washington, AardvarkAlley Prods., Michael portray a man battling premature alzheimers; and in "JOSIE & JOHN" a short dir. by Joe Skinner, a NYU Tisch Film Grad, he plays John, who is going through a major mid-life crises. In April 2010 Mr. DiGioia sang at a benefit concert for Rauschenbusch Metro Ministries/Metro Baptist Church entitled "FROM BROADWAY WITH LOVE" to raise funds for underprivileged children's afterschool programs and other community services, dir. by Kathleen Conry & musical direction by Brett Kristofferson, as well as making several appearances at various NYC open mic. cabaret/clubs such as Birdland's Cast Party with host Jim Caruso, Dopo Teatro Cabaret with hosts Ken Lundie and Dale Badway, and La Mediterranée French Bistro with William Zeffiro at the piano. Mr. DiGioia teamed up with singer Martina Vidmar and musical director Woody Regan for "BROADWAY JUBILEE" (a tribute to the Golden Age of Broadway) performing at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, NJ and Temple Israel in So. Merrick, NY. (More performances of BROADWAY JUBILEE to follow). Soon after the release of "Another Look" in 2007 Michael made his radio debut on Garrett Stack’s WMNR Fine Arts Radio program “Broadway Bound” (serving CT & NY) and in 2009 David Kenney of WBAI NY Radio’s "Everything Old Is New Again" played a selection from "Another Look". In addition, “Talkin' Broadway” (http://talkinbroadway.com/allthatchat), posted Mr. DiGioia’s CD on their “new arrivals” page and, music critic Andy Propst of XM Satellite Radio (in affiliation with www.AmericanTheaterWeb.Com) wrote: “Finally, let me mention ‘Another Look’...throughout you'll hear an assured and powerful voice – nowhere more so than in two power ballads ‘This is the Moment’ and ‘The Music of the Night.’ You're going to want to search ‘Another Look’ out.” To view recent reviews from customers who have purchased this CD, please scroll down. In April 2008 Michael starred in Nicu's Spoon Theater production of the award winning Canadian play "ELIZABETH REX" which marked it's NYC premiere (a non-singing role). In light of the fine reviews and turn-out, this production moved to Off-Broadway's Center Stage Theater in Aug-Sept 2008. For his portrayal of Ned Lowenscroft in "ELIZABETH REX", Mr. DiGioia received an outstanding leading actor nomination from the New York Innovative Theatre Awards (NYIT). What an asset to the world with that voice. The old standards are classic, Michael's voice is tremendous, and makes you feel like you are listening to any original artist, yet keeping his originality in every piece. Very well done and Congrats from me and Carol

Michael DiGioia's CD is a mellow, cheerful, uplifting way to start your morning. He has a beautiful voice and with some of the standards, especially, has mastered the old-time vibrato that crooners used back in the day. I, too, get a little "farklemt" during certain songs. Michael's joy and emotions are contagious. I also bought a CD for my 83-year-old-mom, and here's what she said: "An original interpretation of some old favorites that is bouncy, enthusiastic, and entertaining."

I haven't stopped listening to this album since I received it. The heart, soul, and energy burst through as DiGioia makes these classics brand new and very much his own. I cannot listen to them without tapping my feet, smiling, and a few times even getting choked up. It's beautiful. Whatever your musical tastes, if you appreciate a wonderful, strong, brilliantly ALIVE voice and superior piano playing, you will love this work. Get a few, you will want to give it to friends.

Having worked with Michael, I can share a special appreciation for the comments below. Mr. DiGioia's vocals have always been exceptional. However, the true joy is in knowing the heart of Michael. He is a deeply passionate, caring, devoted person which a unique energy in his soul. The tracks we have heard are quite simply of "reflection of the man". I look forward to sharing in Michael's future successes as an artist and I am proud to share the same arena. Congrats on your accomplishment my friend!!!
