Michael DiGioia (pronounced D-Joya), originally from Chicago, is an award-winning New York based actor/singer, who has appeared Off-Broadway, Off-Off Broadway, and in Regional theatres throughout the U.S. and abroad, including cabaret and concert work. FANDANGO” by veteran Broadway playwright Murray Schisgal at the Theater For The New City in Jan. 2011, and at The Actors Studio in Dec. 2010. His career has varied from classical plays to musicals, and has now moved towards independent film work - one of which “SLIPAWAY” was a selection at the 2009 KENT FILM FEST., and another “THE DAWN CHORUS” was a selection at the 2007 SUNDANCE FILM FEST. RECENT WORK: 2010-2011 marks the completion of three very eclectic indy films and roles which Michael appeared in (release dates TBA): in "JIHAD" dir. by Solon Quinn, 7053 Prods., he plays a psychotic police officer; in "FINDING HOME" dir. by Savanna Washington, AardvarkAlley Prods., Michael portray a man battling premature alzheimers; and in "JOSIE & JOHN" a short dir. by Joe Skinner, a NYU Tisch Film Grad, he plays John, who is going through a major mid-life crises. In April 2010 Mr. DiGioia sang at a benefit concert for Rauschenbusch Metro Ministries/Metro Baptist Church entitled "FROM BROADWAY WITH LOVE" to raise funds for underprivileged children's afterschool programs and other community services, dir. by Kathleen Conry & musical direction by Brett Kristofferson, as well as making several appearances at various NYC open mic. cabaret/clubs such as Birdland's Cast Party with host Jim Caruso, Dopo Teatro Cabaret with hosts Ken Lundie and Dale Badway, and La Mediterranée French Bistro with William Zeffiro at the piano. Mr. DiGioia teamed up with singer Martina Vidmar and musical director Woody Regan for "BROADWAY JUBILEE" (a tribute to the Golden Age of Broadway) performing at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, NJ and Temple Israel in So. Soon after the release of "Another Look" in 2007 Michael made his radio debut on Garrett Stack’s WMNR Fine Arts Radio program “Broadway Bound” (serving CT & NY) and in 2009 David Kenney of WBAI NY Radio’s "Everything Old Is New Again" played a selection from "Another Look". In April 2008 Michael starred in Nicu's Spoon Theater production of the award winning Canadian play "ELIZABETH REX" which marked it's NYC premiere (a non-singing role). In light of the fine reviews and turn-out, this production moved to Off-Broadway's Center Stage Theater in Aug-Sept 2008.
