Album Notes

Nobody doesn't like Matt Mead. When you look around the audience of a Matt Mead gig, you see plenty of generation X and Y, as expected. But surprise: he's got baby boomers filling the rooms too. His merciless acoustic music rocks the kids like Damien Rice and Jason Mraz while swinging the more ripened crowd still fastened to their Sweet Baby James LP's.

Funny how names somehow fit the person wearing them. Mead is a honey wine. One of the world's oldest fermented drinks, it's strong like a liquor - lush, potent and darkly comforting. The comparison applies to Mead's sound: honey with a kick that rouses your senses with its heady sweet-sour mash of moody, grooving and emotional songwriting - elixir for a thirsty soul.

Mead- the middle kid in a family of seven, was born and raised in the suburbs of Essex County New Jersey. Schooled on the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Kiss, he's been gigging on the shed and festival circuits in a number of bands, averaging 150-200 East Coast live shows a year, in addition to radio and TV performances.

Stepping out as a solo artist in 2002 he released a three song, self-titled EP (ASi Music Group) that yielded strong reviews in the local press. Bob Bert - BB Gun Magazine writes "With strong poetic lyrics and beautiful instrumentation, Matt Mead's all killer, no filler three song EP proves to these ears that he belongs on the radio with the best singer songwriters..."

In 2003 Mead assembled a core trio consisting of Dave Falcon on Drums and Ken Silverman on bass & backing vocals to tour the café and theater circuit in support of his debut. His year was topped off with the recording of his first live in-concert DVD.

With a new batch of songs set for a summer release, we anticipate the first spirited mixes to arrive by spring. Samples available upon request. Salud!

Tells a good story, smoky vocals, great song writer...
author: Ava Caridad
Matt Mead writes about a guy on the street looking in, but without the contemporary sense of alienation. His narrators wear a pensive smile, and get the listener to connect to the music. Great use of mandolin, organ annd feedback guitar. Mead can be compared to Jeffrey Gaines, but there are also elements of Big Star's Chris Bell in the vocals, an intro riff reminiscent of The Doors' "Love me 2 Times", and a rainy day feeling akin to CSN's "Wooden Chips".

Descriptive and great melody
author: Esperanza
I really enjoyed the song "Sudie" because it really describes someone that is feeling depressed and alone. He was able to take the listener and connect to the feeling that we all have when we are feeling down and how we all yearn for someone to just show empathy.
