Album Notes

The Meadows are Todd Herfindal and Kevin Houlihan. Introduced years ago in San Francisco by future X- Girlfriends, the two have been making music together ever since. Todd grew up representing the West Coast under the beautiful Northern California sun. Kevin was asked to leave the East Coast after many happy and youthful years. Now living in Los Angeles, they have locked themselves away in various recording studios between the fall of 2004 and summer of 2005. Emerging pale and extremely light sensitive with their self titled debut album "THE MEADOWS". It is, without question, the most unanticipated rock album of 2005. Nobody knew it was coming, and no one knows where it will go. Todd and Kevin both share lead vocal responsibilities. Using the tried and true foundation of drums, bass and guitars, The Meadows built upon the sound with strings, vocal harmonies, organ, violin, viola and noise to create an album that is expansive and cinematic. In fact, the fourth track from the album, "Younger Yesterday", is featured in the Fox/New Regency film Little Manhattan, released in theaters late 2005 and on DVD April 4th, 2006. Its a good start for The Meadows indeed. Todd Herfindal is formerly of the San Francisco alt/rock band Blue Sky Roadster and Los Angeles-based pop/rock band Single. Both bands enjoyed regional success and college/commercial radio play. Kevin Houlihan is formerly of the New Jersey-based band The Fundamentals (MCA), Plastic Machine, and the founder of Los Angeles band Moontower. News Flash: The album is up on iTunes, Emusic, Napster, Rhapsody and most of the other premium digital download stores!

Rolling Stone on The Meadows

Twelve tracks steeped in the acoustic soul of Big Star and sprinkled with the arena-rock dust of Coldplay. Triumphant choruses like "We can be anything" ("Been So Long") and "Today will be the brightest day" ("Turn It Around") continually burst out of melancholy verses to reveal our narrators as true believers in the power of the perfect rock song."

Amplifier amped on The Meadows
author: Amplifier Magazine
The band's sound brings to mind many welcome images, at times recalling Oasis anthems as sung by the Thorns, while at others recalling the glory days of the Jayhawks or the more subdued vibes of Mitch Easter and Don Dixon.
