“The Mary Hardin Center for Cultural Arts wanted to have a ‘Big Band’ to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ending of World War II,” Means said. “The center’s director, Bobby Welch, knew I was a musician, and that we had a wealth of talent here in Gadsden, so they asked me to put a band together. I did, but it would not have been possible without Rip Reagan. He fronted the band along with me for many years and arranged a lot of our music.”
