Mary Ellen Casey, born and raised in Rhode Island, has been singing, playing guitar, and writing songs since the age of 13. She sang and played in a church folk group for many years and sang privately for weddings. The money came in handy while she put herself through nursing school. (She once had a wonderful guitar instructor who told her to keep making music but always have a steady job that pays the bills!)
She put music on hold for a while to finish nursing school, get a job and raise her now teenage daughter!
Life became fast and furious as she went through marriage, divorce, graduate school, remarriage, stepchildren and another child.
Songwriting was always in the background and it became a wonderful outlet to talk about life, make decisions and it continues to be a great way to observe the world. Her musical influences include Mary-Chapin Carpenter, Amy Grant, James Taylor and Sarah McLachlan.
With the support of family and friends Mary Ellen returned to singing and has been performing regularly in the Southern New England area. It was always her dream to record a collection of her original material and she released "The Key" in December, 2003.
She continues to perform and hopes to give her "second career" a chance to grow and give audiences a taste of her "thought-provoking" style!

This cd is great. There is real talent to this singer/song writer. You can feel the emotions behind the words and I think that is the gift of a true songwriter. She also has a true talent for singing. I wish her all the best in this venture.

This girl can sing. I've never heard a voice quite so interesting. She's also a very strong songwriter. This CD is a gem. I Love the song ''Irish Ode To Eileen''. I would love to see her live. She'll be big someday.
