Album Notes

Medieval Steel was formed in 1983 releasing their self titled 4 song EP in 1984. The band received much praise for the compilation. The Epic EP Medieval Steel caught the attention of several record companies and received airplay as well. All tracks are recorded by the original Medieval Steel vocalist Bobby Franklin who is a one of a kind singer. The band went through several changes in their line-up over the years but still remains true to their original sound. In 1985, Bobby Franklin partnered with Scott Jones and together wrote songs like: Eyes Of Fire, Tears In The Rain, To Kill A King and many others.
The Dungeon Tapes is the long awaited collection of songs including the digitally re-mastered songs from the 1984 EP Medieval Steel and demo tapes from 1988 and 2004 studio sessions. The musicians are all top notch. Songs like: Ghost From The Battlefield, Eyes Of Fire and To Kill A King feature the late great Stacey Horne on bass, Vocalist Bobby Franklin, Guitarist Scott Jones with one of the most melodic and aggressive guitar tones ever and Drummer Chris Cook, whose style is reminiscent of a mixture of such greats as Neil Peart and Tommy Aldridge.
Lost In The City and Tears In The Rain are from the 1988 studio session that feature Scott Jones on guitar and keys, Steve Crocker on bass, Chris Cook on drums and of course, Bobby Franklin on vocals.
A must to hear!!! A must to have!!! Turn it up!!!!!!!!

METAL WARRIORS, RAISE YOUR SWORDS!

Early 80's power metal at its finest. A good mix of Priest inspired crunch, with Maiden/Helloween-esque melodies. While most bands today can only follow in the footsteps of truly innovative work, Medieval Steel was one of the few leading the charge. This is what the early 80's metal scene was about and The Dungeon Tapes are a perfect example of metal that didn't care about commerciality, it just spat in the face of it.
