Album Notes

Meg Allison grew up in Evanston, Illinois, just north of Chicago. Born with a musical ear, she took to the piano at an early age but became bored and "too cool" for lessons in high school. After graduating in 1999, Meg picked up the guitar and left Evanston to attend Indiana University. Singing and writing songs was her therapeutic outlet as she faced the new found freedoms and challenges of being away from home.

Meg's first experience on stage was an open-mic in Indiana, where she swears her heart jumped out of her throat. But as time passed, she embraced and eventually thrived on the warmth of the bright lights. Her sophomore year of college she transferred to Miami University where she played weekly gigs in college bars.

By her senior year, Meg won first place in an acoustic competition and was awarded the opportunity to open for a headlining band. After graduating with a degree in Mass Communications in May 2003, Meg packed up her car and moved out west to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where she quickly landed regular shows at the Silver Dollar Bar in the historic Wort Hotel.

From the flat lands to the mountains, Meg's songwriting continues to mature. And at age 22, she has more drive than ever to become something sensational.

Painfully ironic lyrics that are relative to everyone’s lives!

Meg Allison is the real deal. She writes her own music, sings lyrics from the heart, and plays the guitar with soul. Meg’s intellect and wit allow her to create painfully ironic lyrics that are relative to everyone’s lives. She writes from the heart – “I write about what I know,” - Meg Allison. This is the key to excellent music! The heart wrenching, ”Now I know,” about an Ex, who shall remain nameless, will have you in tears – “I remember when you said I was perfect, I thought I was worth it, thought we’d last a life time.” But skip to “Stupidity” and you’ll be ready to take on the world – “so add me to your list of heart break, I’ll chalk you up as a lost cause, what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger. I’m sick and tired of getting stronger.” My personal favorite, “Colors,” has astounding mental depth – “truth is that what you fear, don’t be afraid to shed your tears.” And I’m ready to move to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to experience “Heaven in the Hole” – “Livin’ in this heaven’s ocean that I’m drinking with my eyes.” Meg couldn’t have described the majestic beauty of the Teton Mountains any better! Meg has created the ultimate young urban anthem: “Welcome to Sunday Morning.” I can’t help but smile and laugh when I hear those oh so familiar lyrics – “there’s bruises on my elbow and scratches on my feet, oh my God, please tell me that ain’t my credit card receipt, oh, oh, ohhh, Welcome to Sunday Morning,” – upon waking up after a long Saturday night! Meg’s album is absolutely AMAZING!
