Album Notes

Born to Armenian parents in Lebanon, classical guitarist Megerdich Mikayelian studied at the Musical College of Beirut as well as Komitas Conservatory of Music in Yerevan, Armenia. His teachers have included Hagop Jaghasbanyan, Eddy Dorlian, and Raphael Andia. He is currently a professor of guitar at the Lebanese National High Conservatory, P. Ganatchian Musical College, and the Sourp Khatch Musical College all located in Beirut, Lebanon.

Besides his career as a solo and ensemble artist, Mikayelian is also known for his transcriptions of Armenian folk, secular, and liturgical music for classical guitar. In 2002, he authored a book entitled, “Armenian Liturgy and Armenian Songs for Guitar” published by Armenian Catholicossate of Giligia-Antelias.

Megerdich Mikayelian maintains an active career in both teaching and performance. He currently lives in Beirut, Lebanon.
