One could imagine what a singer/songwriter's first album would sound like if he had never stepped foot in a studio before. Especially if he produced it himself.
Well, much to the amazement of leading indie-critics, Scott Meldrum has turned out a self-produced, debut effort to rival major label releases.
His understated alterna-pop songs have captured the industry and music public alike. With an amazing #1 debut on Billboard Online, he followed with a record five consecutive #1 songs at mp3.com, and a nine consecutive weeks at #1 on Soundclick. He has ammassed a massive cyber-fanbase culled from over 300,000 downloads.
Scott's album 'crush' has tracked on over 120 college stations and mounted a serious threat to the top artists on the CMJ charts.
With an impressive album, solid airplay and opening slots for Jan Arden, The Young Dubliners, Gillian Welsh, Berlin and Luka Bloom, Scott's at the pinnacle of indie-success and will no doubt, continue to surprise us all!

Music for people who really listen
author: April
This is intelligent music for people who really listen. There is so much to hear on this cd. No screaming, whining, or monotonous repetitive rhythms. Instead, there are layers of simple sounds woven together to create deceivingly complex patterns of words and music. Every track goes somewhere, says something, and leaves me wanting more. This music is easy on my ears, stuck on my brain and has found a permanent place in my heart. Thank you, Scott. Please make more music.

Music to make your heart think
author: Neophytos
There are many times when I've wished that my heart didn't rule my life, but having listened to Scott Meldrum's masterful music, I guess I'm not the only one. The layers of meaning, thought and emotion are lovely. Powerful, even.
All of his songs are melodic, full of catchy riffs and interesting instrumental combinations. Well worth listening to on repeat.

when you want to be embraced by human spirit
author: Gajoob
crush comes obviously from careful, soulful exploration. Meldrum has fashioned a work here that is utterly beautiful in its lasting simplicity. Meldrum's songs are at times orchestral, at times solitary; its beats are direct rhythms, streetlamp blues, and they are woven in complex emotions whose melody is instantly part of you; acoustic whispers that speak of tragedy and hope in bare expression. You will play this CD when you want to be embraced by human spirit, not for its answers but more for its questions.

Since the first MP3.com CD I've been searching.
author: Lost Fan
I heard the song Einstein's Big Mistake on the first MP3.com CD I ever received. Tonight, I got in a bit of an argument with my girl. The only thing I wanted to hear was that song. I'm just a guy from Michigan, glad I found this song. It's been one of my favorites ever since I heard it. If you've never heard this music you've got some listening to do!
