Album Notes

From a tumultuous youth came a whisper: “Daddy, where will this take us?"
The answer was abrupt. A silent mind has no memory...

Many years ago, in a Ukrainian town of Odessa, was born a Jewish Musical Powerhouse. His father called him Melech, it stands for King.
The child grew and developed his talents quickly. His parents, realizing they had a genius on their hands, quickly proceeded to do the obvious. Melech went to the Odessa Music Conservatory at the age of four and a half. He quickly took to the piano and began composing, what at that time seemed to be childish little songs, what he called, sonatinas for the kids.

Knowing that the anti-Semitic school system in communist Russia was not going to allow their child to flourish in his art, they immigrated to America and settled to make a life for Melech and his brother in the Philadelphia area.
Melech entered the Settlement Music School under scholarship and studied under Sofia Levenson as a child prodigy. In the span of three years, Melech auditioned to perform with Philadelphia philharmonics as well as enter competitions.

In 1981, at the age of sixteen, Melech went to Philadelphia College of Performing Arts as a Composition/Performance major.
Upon graduation, he opened his private teaching studio and now teaches in Community Conservatory in Doylestown, PA.

Melech b'n Arieh is not a band, not a brand and definitely not the same old Chassidic Music. In the many years of spending time with great musical minds, Melech has decided to release his own CD and named it"Lech Lecha". Return to yourself, in English translation. This work is dedicated to the Lubavitche Rebbe, of blessed memory, and is catching on like wildfire.

This work takes you on an emotional journey from the highs of Jerusalem to the quiet of one's soul. The reflective moods and passionate singing create an atmosphere of elation and desire to whisk the listener to the deepest core of his being. The intensity of tracks like "Tzemah Lecha Nafshi" with it's haunting and loving melody, the war drums and the chimes that remind one to recall the Holocaust and awaken the soul to tears. Or the beauty of "Heather's Song" that can not help but remind you of your first love.
This is the CD called "Lech Lecha"...
