Album Notes

Melee Beats is a dance music songwriter and producer from Sacramento, California, who draws influences from a diverse collection of artists such as Prince, Junior Boys, Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, and Tom Moulton. Melee Beats fused pop music together with disco house with his first full length EP titled "STAR" in 2005. Since then, Melee Beats has completed two full length albums and has quickly become a name in the electronic music scene.

The producer/instrumentalist/singer named Nic Bertino was born October 3rd, 1985 in Northern California. At the age of 12, he began composing drum loops and simple melodies. Throughout high school he would continue working on music, where he found himself falling in love with the disco sounds of the 70's, the synthesis of the 80's, and the house movement of the 90's. In 2005, Nic Bertino completed his first full length EP titled "STAR." This album would prove Bertino's robust production skills. Shortly after releasing "STAR," Bertino began work on his second full length album, which he promised to feature all of his house influences with a more listener-friendly format.

At the age of 20, Bertino delivered the single "Distraction." It would prove to be the defining moment of his career, and the album "Bel Esteem" was completed shortly after. The album was a critical success, praised for its diverse sound and crossover appeal.

On June 10th, 2008, Bertino releases "The Limited" under the Melee Beats alias. "The Limited" is a 13 track expose of his talent and a collection of songs from four Melee Beats albums - "STAR," "Entracte," "Bel Esteem," and the forthcoming album "Triumph."
