Who is Melissa Kate?
A singer, song-writer, actress, voice-actress and teaching artist. Go to www.MelissaKate.net if you need a better look-- or myspace.com/mksong.
What is this album?
Fun, funk and jazz. Some blues, a little pop-- Midnight Blue was called a "throwback song" which is so cool! Especially since it was initially a ballad!
Wasn't Blind Faith another band?
Yes, and we love them. Clapton rocks! However, this CD is called Blind Faith because that's the title track.
Is that something religious?
Not particularly. "Blind Faith" is more about making it through those times when you can't see what lies ahead, and you have to go by faith-- short of jumping off a cliff or doing harm-- to keep up strength. It's also a true story. With a great hook and an awesome bass line.
So who IS on this album?
1. The legendary Mr. Van Taylor: Taylor Made Jazz, Van Taylor Production, UST Topaze and more (keys, ass't mastering, production, manager, co-writer, bass)
2. The fabulous Flick Williams: F. Williams Music, Pharoah Studios (sax, recording)
3. The exciting and supremely talented Rob Walker: The Exoutics (guitar)
4. Trusted ear Mike Brydalski (mix-master)
5. & me
ps. The album is, as with every band, a VERY different sound than a live performance. We recommend taking every opportunity to catch us live- if you live far away from our hometown of Buffalo, NY, please clue us in to venues near you! Current band members: Tim Webb, Richi Valentino, Lemuel Bryant, Jerry Sampson, Van Taylor
Prove to me the album is good.

Okay, cool. So tell me more about Melissa.
She began singing professionally in NYC, in venues such as the World Trade Center Summer Series and Swing 46.She stripped her coloratura opera training to bring it back to the raw, fabulous jazz sound. This album is written and made at the beginning of a vocal transformation—keep your ears open for the next one!
She brought her jazz experience back to the intense Buffalo music scene to work with Taylor Made Jazz. There, she found a niche among the musicians of the Colored Musician's Club, and flavored her jazz vocals with a little R&B soul. As much as she missed NYC, Melissa began traveling internationally for the DOD Armed Forces Entertainment, performing throughout the Middle East, Europe and the Pacific.
**A special thank you and blessing here to the Troops, to everyone who has been so gracious and to everyone who is working so hard overseas, keeping the roots of America at heart and giving themselves to the world.**
Friends say: "She is a skilled vocalist, filled with warm energy and a sense of fun. Her music is at once funky and irresistibly catchy."
Melissa says: “I like music that affects people. Lots of my fans have said that one song or another really touched them, and that is absolutely what I want from EVERY song.”
Why should I buy the album? Can't I just download it or something?
Yes, you can download it! I-tunes, Garageband, Rhapsody and even my myspace site and website gives you the option to download individual songs! You can even create a really cool ring-tone.
But let me tell you something cool about the album-- it's an ALBUM. You OWN it. I-tunes doesn't tell you you can't transfer it to your mp3, or that you can't share it with your friends, or that your Mom who lives in Texas can't download it from your computer for free. Once you own that album, it's YOURS. You can send it to your mom in the mail, you can upload it to your I-pod and you can admire the lovely picture on the front. You can even buy lots of affordable copies to give to friends and family for holiday gifts! SOO many options.
One more thing: A NEW CD was added to CDBaby, and it's very important that you go over to it and buy it-- even more important than purchasing this one here.
It's called: AGAPE-- THE HUNGER PROJECT
The Hunger Project is a global organization that is creating a sustainable end to chronic hunger world-wide, and empowering men and women to end -- FOR GOOD-- their own hunger.
Sales of the CD are an investment into this global initiative. Please look there now.
