While many lyrically centered folk/pop records offer clever twists and turns of phrase, Melissa's GETAWAY CAR goes further. The lyrics and the superb musicianship are welded inseperably, as if by an acetylene torch. Whether it be an offering tinged with country twang or one of the many sophisticated "pop" songs, Melissa has has tapped into a darker, almost bittersweet grove of sugar maples she chanced upon in the woods. Don't expect overly-processed, white cane sugar with GETAWAY CAR.
