Album Notes

Previously singing as “M’lesha”, Melissa Solomon has been mastering her own style for years. With influences like Bonnie Raitt, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Tyler, and Sting, Melissa has pieced together her own unique sound – raspy rock vocals, with a bit of blues and a hint of country… just right! Her debut album, “Steppin’ on Faith”, showcases her songwriting and her powerful voice. She has also released the single, “Don’t Let Go”, a song written in the perspective of an unborn child wanting to live.

Singer/song writer, Melissa Solomon has been a native to the stage since she was three years old. She grew up learning to sing by mastering every Sandi Patti song made. She sang soprano with The Sojourners, her family’s southern gospel group, traveling up and down the east coast. At age 13, she toured the United States singing with the American Christian Youth Chorale. During her high school years, Melissa sang her way to the ACDA Southern Divisional Honors Chorus. After attending the North Carolina Governor’s School for the Academically Gifted in music performance, Melissa then left for Nashville to begin her career. Skipping her senior year, Melissa went to the prestigious Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee to study Commercial Music and Music Business.

While in Nashville, Melissa worked in the marketing department for a major Christian record label, Benson Music Group. She also worked for Atkins-Muse Management marketing Christian artists to the CCM industry. She was a Research Assistant for the Creative Resource Directory and has worked events in the music business industry such as Gospel Music Association week, Christian Broadcaster’s Association week, and Country music’s Fan Fare week. Melissa has worked as a demo singer and a background vocalist for many studios, some of which are Sound Control Studio, Nashville, TN, J & M Studio, Nashville, TN, Robert E. Mulloy Studios, Nashville, TN, Sun Sound Studio, Murfreesboro, TN, White Room Studio, Charlotte, NC, and GAT3 Studio, Charlotte, NC.
