ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
She writes most of her songs while sipping very mild green tea, and it shows. Melissa Vaughan's music leans towards the shadowy theme of departures and a wistful reluctance to change. While her piano melodies are mostly simple and straightforward, her lyrics cause the listener to transport themselves away from routine; into her world of misty and sometimes dim corners. Themes that suggest grief and subsequent elation make listening a pleasant emotional roller coaster that fans describe as "something you have to hear twice to fully appreciate and understand". Like an intricate poem or a raw and delicate painting, people who acquire a taste for her style of musical composition never tire of it. From the gently persuasive 'Queen of Sky Park' (a nod to her farewell to childhood) to the rising swell of 'Only the Angels', she has created for us an atmosphere that both alters and gratifies our ideas of beautiful melodies. An artist in every sense of the word, her completely original debut CD is one worth having and worth listening to time and time again. Green tea recommended, of course.

Nothing bad to say...
Although I do wish some of her new songs were on the album, no complaints about the ones that are on it. Please, please listen to #11. I definitely want to hear her more. I was visiting San Diego and caught a live show, and I didn't have cash but am about to buy her CD. PLEASE COME TO WEST VIRGINIA, we love you!!!!!!!!!

"Again"
Such a beautiful song. I don't usually rely on music to assuage grief, but this really put into words what I couldn't say. I also appreciate the fact that Melissa dedicated Only the Angels to the military. It makes me want to support her. Keep the music coming, Melissa. I'll be listening for you on the radio - you deserve all the best. - Daniel

I love it!
I heard her music on myspace and the sample of Again that the Tad Bit Fats used and fell in love. I tried to see her at a show and pick up the cd but I couldn't wait so I ordered it online. I love it and listen again and again. Beautiful voice and strong emotion to back it up. Definitely worth adding to your collection!!

Melissa Vaughan is so talented
I accidentally overheard her playing at a live venue and she stopped me in my tracks; she was playing her song about angels and even though I only caught part of it, it was good enough that I bought 2 CDs (one for myself and one for my daughter, whose husband is in Iraq). This young lady has something unique and I don't think you'll be catching her in small venues for much longer. If you're reading this, thank you Melissa for your wonderful music.
