Album Notes

"Sylvia Plath meets Rumi in the artistry of this juicy crone," says one saucy critic. Mary Carr Melkonian's SUNRISE ON A FULL MOON DAY, A Poetic Journey to Wholeness, is decorated with the creative soundings of her angel, Adriean Chatman of MEOWMA (http://www.meowma.com) There is no telling where the adventure will take YOU but enchanted you will be in this bold and inspiring work. A chapbook/CD combo, it is definitely a COLLECTOR'S ITEM as it is a LIMITED EDITION, guaranteed.

Story has it that Mary was baptised "MARTYTISH" by a bleary eyed, hungover Irish Catholic priest, weary of the umpteenth Mary Elizabeth presented to him that snowy January day in 1938 at St. Patrick's Church in Watertown, NY. (Yes, I said she was a crone, but JUICY, remember? Marion Woodman and Maureen Murdock, Ram Das and Deepak Chopra, her idols.) Little did HE know what these baby eyes would see and soul would hear in a bewildering lifetime of world gazing, life loving adventure.

This Metaphor Mamma invites you to trust, jump right in to her world of:

EITHER/OR marycarrmelkonian

Moving from the world of either/or
To both and more,
To have it ALL,
Requires a leap of faith.

To stare fear in the face
And walk through the mirror
Defying the shards of glass
That fly into the Universe.

Stars, brilliance,
Go ahead, trust,
Jump.
The net will appear.

from a woman who has obviously lived many lives within a life. Insightful, encouraging, encompassing body, mind, and spirit in a marvelous play with words that say yes to living it all! Especially liked Through the Keyhole with it's metaphors of fear bieng homeless and dreams the keyholes to truth and spirit. Thank you Mary.

Mary's work is such a strong representation of how sweetly she looks at the world, inviting us all inside her, uh, unusual brain, to play, romp and have fun with our relationship with life. No one can do that with more elan than she.
