Album Notes

The Mello Cads promise to make you smile with their sexy blend of soft pop, lounge, and swing. Fronted by LA scenester David Ponak, the Cads mix some magically crafted originals with covers of "records your parents played all the time that you hate to admit you loved. Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, Chris Montez, Neil Hefti, Paul Williams.

All great songs. Some known, some not." When they perform, they always deliver a fun and humorous show while exposing the audience to some great songs that are rarely heard in a live setting. "Soft As A Rock" is their debut full-length CD, and features guest appearances from Paul Williams, Nick Walusko and Probyn Gregory (Brian Wilson/Wondermints), Kim Fox, Linus Of Hollywood, Kevin Lee (Raymakers), Lisa Jenio (Candypants), and many more.

REVIEWS

whiplash to the swingin' 60s and modish early 70s

This was a well produced disc with some laugh out loud chauvanism and bachelor pad jive. I could've done without the spoken intro to some songs(that lost it a half a star), but am overall impressed with the whole package. And how can you go wrong with help from pop icon Paul Williams?! It definitely made me smile - I'm not sure who I can share it with yet (they'd need to understand "tongue in cheek")but I'll keep it out to show people. Give it a shot if you can take your humor from a Cad and your music from a bachelor pad.
