Album Notes

Melomane is a pop-noir six-piece from New York City combining guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, cello, trumpet and noise into a melange of haunting melodies and hummable pop. Melomane's sound invokes Calexico, Stereolab, and a more muscular Belle and Sebastian. The band was formed by singer songwriter Pierre de Gaillande, a veteran of favorite indie bands such as Film Star, Creedle, and Morning Glories. He is joined by an amazing amalgam of NYC musicians including Quentin Jennings (Dylans), Daria Klotz (God is My Co-Pilot, Moonlighters), Kenny Savelson (Foetus, C Gibbs), Frank Heer (Huggy Bear), and Catherine McCray (T Griffin Coraline, Patti Smith.)
Solresol is Melomane's second album and pushes the infectious, melodic, melancholy pop-rock of the first album to greater heights of sonic texture, power, and dark beauty.
