Album Notes

Mel-Rob the Voice of the People… The M.V.P.
With the love of God, the mind of Einstein, and the passion of Pac, this mixture of spoken word poetry and TRUE hip-hop music is definitely one for your collection. Community issues, love and happiness, spirituality, overcoming adversity, and so much more can be found on the 18 tracks on this CD… not to mention Mel-Rob came out of retirement as an EMCEE and heated up the recording booth with a unique lyrical style. This album also features some guest appearances from some of the hottest poets in Chicago!

About Mel-Rob:
Mel-Rob was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. God made him, and the streets helped raise him. Not only does this poet have street smarts, he is well educated. He is one of the few people from his neighborhood that actually graduated from college… with honors at that! But don’t be fooled by the clean cut look and ability to speak well… he knows and embraces where he came from. He just knows how to adapt to the situations he faces. Not only is Mel-Rob a phenomenal spoken word artist, he is also an accomplished actor, writer, speaker and model. He has stared in plays such as: And Then There Was Poetry, Living Room Secrets, and Apology From One Sister to Another. He has also been in several films, some of which are award winning films! Love Shorts (Art & Ink Productions, National Black Film Festival best new Indie Film Award), Holla’ If You Hear Me (1555 Film Works, Chicago Truth Awards Best Indie Film), The Real Rick Ross Documentary (AS IS Magazine) are just a few! Be on the look out for future projecs from Mel-Rob… this artist is definitely on the move!

You're CD is one of the best poetry CD's I've heard...Variety, production & words compliment each other perfectly...I will definetely keep it in rotation! The piece "Baby girl" should turn the heads of EVERY absentee father and can let most fatherless daughters know they're not alone. Thank you for the raw, honest, passionate spirit of this CD.

The CD, MVP, is hot to def! The truth truly stands out---Cornball Rappers---Mel Rob could not have hit the nail on the head any more accurate with that piece!!! The day I copped the CD I played it in my car all the way home. It literally captivates you and has you in awe from start to finish. Then you're pissed becuase it's finished! MVP makes you think, makes you write, makes ponder, makes you feel the emotions that went through Mel's mind in order to put together such a CD! *If you ain't got it, ya damn sho needs to be dun got it! Fuh sho!!!!*

Mel-Rob is NOT playing about being MVP! You will NOT be disappointed by this sophomore album! I'm most pleased with the range of themes on this album: his storytelling is captivating and his lyricism is apparent. If nothing else, you'll be grabbed just by the passion in this man's voice!

There has been some major growth in this cat!

I can't say that I'm shocked, but this album is better than his last one. The last one was good, but the growth of this young man is rare. Some people have a hard time topping their first album, but he pulled it off. His poetry makes you think, but it still has a street edge about it. Bravo my friend!
