The six Brandenburg Concertos are magnificent works for chamber orchestra. These brilliant examples of complex musical language are each composed for a different combination of instruments.

On this album, Boston Baroque performs four of the Brandenburgs on period instruments to recapture authentic spirit. Founded by Martin Pearlman in 1973, Boston Baroque was the first permanent Baroque orchestra in North America. Today the orchestra is internally acclaimed for its precise, vigorous, buoyant performances and recordings. The Brandenburg Concertos are among Bach's most dazzling gifts to humanity.
