Album Notes

When mercyservice the released their debut CD, they brought a unique style of Americana rock to radio stations and live venues throughout the Southwest.

Lead vocalist and songwriter Ken Demith brought all his Nashville upbringing and his rock rebellion to original songs about life, love and loss.

Steve Brown on keyboard and vocals added soulful harmonies and carefully crafted stories in his songwriting.

Tony Ammerman on percussion provided a solid, creative beat behind the band's unique sound playing to the simple structure of the songs with Tom Ammerman on bass guitar.

The record featured Favored Nations Records artist Andy Timmons on guitars that really made songs like Shutterbug and These Days swell with Andy's fluid, energetic style. Future band member Leroy Smith also contributed on lead guitar. Producer Rob Wechsler brought all these elements into a dynamic recording that took all different styles of music and fused it into a balanced and cohesive experience. Rob definately got the best out of the band and the songs and also contributed by playing Fiddle on the CD.

"mercyservice was influenced by everything from the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Wilco, Elvis Costello, the Boss, Bob Schneider, The Gourds, Foo Fighters to David Onlney".

Mercyservice collaborated for three years before recording their self-titled CD on the independent label Rug Records. This CD shows the group's patience and determination towards making great music.

Mercyservice is a fresh blend of good rock with roots in a soulful country mix!

Mercyservice is a fresh blend of good rock with roots in a soulful country mix! A friend let me hear one of the songs and I wanted more. I get so bored with the usual formula of modern pop songs. This album seems to rise out of familiar styles from my childhood while at the same time adding a cool new sound. The lyrics are a trip!

Mercyservice is very much a musical accomplishment

Mercyservice is very much a musical accomplishment. Every track is unique with refreshing rythms and tempos. It's a collection of completely original sounds, but combines elements of music I've always loved. The music and vocals are very tight. The horns and guitars are tastefully mixed to accent the whole tune, not to simply spotlight a solo artist. The production and artwork are top notch.
