HELLO EVERYONE! Thank You for checking out this site!
“DREAM DANCING” is the first major recording project by Meri Slaven Along with Scott Gwinnell on piano, Dennis Horvath on bass, and Scott Kretzer on drums. Also some great sax and flute solos by Carl Cafagna and exellent violin playing by Molly Huges. String arrangements are written by Scott Gwinnell.
“DREAM DANCING” is a very enjoyable cd that you will listen to over and over. Recorded in Clawson Michigan, engineered by Alex Trajano. Cover Photography by Sherry Kruzman in Royal Oak Mi. There are also some really cool candid shots on the inside cover of everyone while recording in the recording studio.
Ms. Slaven can be seen lately singing in and around Detroit Michigan Although she is a native of suburban Detroit, she spent most of her early years performing in southern Florida and in and Around New York City.
Meri studied classical voice with a few different people among them renowned dramatic tenor Ed Ruhl. At a young age she sang in many different venues before being inspired to sing jazz at the age of 22. and there was no turning back. “I just love the standards” she says.
She also says “As I was selecting the songs for the project, it didn’t take long to realize that a theme was starting to emerge. The songs all had to do with night time and the things we do at night, like sleeping, dreaming ect. Any great project seems to take on a life of it’s own at some point. It’s usually best to just go with it, so that’s just what I did.” All the songs, that is with the exception of “Beginning to see the light” strategically placed on the last track.
Her life is very busy these days with her 10 year old son Austin, and recently being married to husband and bassist Dennis Horvath. She also runs a business on the side. “In retrospect, the whole thing may be about sleep deprivation!” she jokes.
Thank You again for checking us out! Happy Listening!
