Sandy Merrill
Bio

Live & Alive on Major records.

Ron Winn of The City Newspaper in Nashville in reviewing "My Way," had this to say about Sandy, "There aren't many vocalists more qualified to perform the songs of Frank Sinatra than Nashville's Sandy Merrill. Once the featured vocalist with Sy Zentner's Orchestra ... " Sy's hit was "Up A Lazy River."No less than Vic Damone told Sandy; "You are the best singer I've heard and I only said that to one other person and that was Steve Lawrence."

He has been compared to Torme, Buble, Bennett, Connick Jr. Damone, and Sinatra ... Sandy prides himself on being a practioner out of the Big Band school of music and is a master of the genre.

A Chicagoan by birth, he is the son of Opera Singer Mildred Gerber. Besides being a nightclub/stage performer he was chosen for the lead of Tevia in a Nashville Jewish Community Centers' production of "Fiddler on the Roof" and recently director Kaine Riggan casted Sandy for the part of Frank Sinatra in the Donnalson Senior Center's procuction of "My Way."

A song he cowrote "Christmas in Chicago," kicked off the holiday season at Chicago's Tree Lighting Ceremony with Sandy singing the honors for his honor - a beaming Mayor Daley.

Sandy has worked and learned from legends such as Les McCann, Billy Williams of "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter," jazz pianist Rubin MItchell, & Pat Morita of "Karate Kid" fame. He also had the honor of introducing "For Once in My Life" for the first time on any stage.

Now living in Nashville he sings commercials, records, writes, and performs at corporate dates through out the country. Sandy has recorded for the Variety Record label ... and the Prima record label owned by the great trumpeter/bandleader Louis Prima.
