"Randy is one of the few musicians I have paid to hear. He's one of the best fiddlers I've heard."
Chet Atkins

"Plays with verve and impeccable technique."
Chicago Tribune

"One fine fiddler, he has the technical ability of 'connor or Duncan, but there is a keen edge to his playing that is different and exciting."
SEBA Breakdown

These recordings mostly reflect our friendship and the music we shared with the late Randy Howard. The first bluegrass band I played in during the mid 70's was anchored by 15 year old Randy and his dad, Floyd. We all knew he was destined for a great career. Just how great surprised even his biggest fans for Randy became a twelve time National Fiddle Champion who recorded with Garth Brooks, George Jones, J.D. Crowe, Bela Fleck, Tony Rice, David Grisman, Jerry Douglas, Shelby Lynne and a host of others. Janice and I are fully aware of how privileged we were to have had the opportunity to play music with Randy over the years. It was actually this awareness that helped persuade me to buy a multi-track cassette recorder to capture some of these moments. While these "living room sessions" are not mega studio quality they amply demonstrate Randy's prodigious talent. Randy moved with ease from state of the art digital studios to our home sessions while always offering us encouragement. Indeed, Janice and I would have never begun to write songs had it not been for his support. We miss you Randy.

Honest country music from the heart

I bought this for the fiddle music but I have to say the guitar/mandolin picking is fantastic too. Great riffs. Tuneful. I can't keep my feet still! I bought it at a good price, the shipping/shipping time impeccable! Thanks CD Baby! One question: what is a bass fiddle? (a cello?)

Superb music. Consistent throughout the album drawing from old time sources to self penned titles and some modern adaptations. Nancy Griffith's "Trouble In The Fields" a touching inclusion & real treat. C.D Baby shipped this to me in UK real quick~ as usual ~ faultless!
