Album Notes

Mersaidee Soules, originally from Picton, Ontario, Canada, got an early start on her career path--she's been singing since she was a little girl and writing songs from the time she became a teenager. So, it's only natural that she wrote the majority of the songs for her debut CD, Honest.

Mersaidee notes that her songs are a reflection of her small-town experiences and family life. "Music has always affected me on such a deep level," she says. "So many songs have had such an impact on my life and that's really why I feel so drawn to not only sing but write as
well."

After moving to Nashville in 2001 to pursue her dream, Mersaidee landed her first cut in Canada by a Major label artist and the single had an immediate impact and soon aired on two popular TV shows, Dawson's Creek and Crime & Punishment.

Three years later, Mersaidee won the overall Grand Prize in the US Mid-Atlantic Song Contest and flew to Washington, DC to perform her original tune "You Knew." The song won first place in the Country Music division and
later finished first overall for every genre entered. "You Knew" is also the first single from her Debut CD. "This is a true love story between my sister and her husband," Mersaidee says.

Mersaidee has become a popular performer in Nashville, playing various Music Row clubs along with special events for the Salvation Army, an organization that remains close to her heart. "The Salvation Army helped my family when I was young and I've never forgotten that," she says. "I
am proud to have been a part of their Angel Tree Program in 2005 and 2006."

Now, she continues to build on her dream with the release of her first CD, Honest.

"I love the stories/songs on this project," she says with a smile. I also cut 3 songs of long time co-writing friends, because I loved the songs and wanted this project to be about dreams coming true for them too. I had so much fun writing songs for this CD and working in the studio with the musician's & engineers. There were many magical moments and I am excited to share them with you…
Turn it up and join me on the journey!

XO Mersaidee

COUNTRY MUSIC NEWS - CANADA VOL 28 - NO 4 JULY 2007 page 10 - RECORD REVIEWS BY LARRY DELANEY MERSAIDEE SOULES - HONEST JAYDD RECORDS PRODUCED BY RALPH MURPHY WITH MERSAIDEE SOULES MERSAIDEE SOULES WAS BORN IN PICTON, ON - RAISED IN BELLEVILLE, SPENT HER TEEN YEARS IN TORONTO, SOUGHT STARDOM AS A SONGWRITER IN LOS ANGELES. AND EVENTUALLY SETTLED IN NASHVILLE TO PURSUE THAT DREAM AS A SONGWRITER AND A RECORDING ARTIST. LIKE MOST DREAMS IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BIZ ... IT DIDN'T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT, AND MERSAIDEE SOULES PAID HER DUES ALONG THE WAY. THE PLUS SIDE OF ALL THAT IS THAT SHE CAN DRAW FROM HER LIFE EXPERIENCES TO WRITE HER SONGS, AND INDEED A LOT OF THIS DEDUT ALBUM RELATES STORIES ABOUT THE GOOD AND BAD OF FAMILY, FRIENDSHIPS AND LIFE ITSELF. MERSAIDEE SOULES HAS WRITTEN OR CO-WRITTEN SEVEN OF THE TEN SONGS FEATURED HERE, AND DELIVERS THE MATERIAL WITH A POWERFUL AND PASSIONATE VOCAL STYLE. THE SONGS ARE POP/COUNTRY FLAVOURED AND THE ALBUM FEATURES SOME OF NASHVILLE'S TOP SESSION PLAYERS. THERE ARE SEVERAL REAL STANDOUT ITEMS HERE. " Mersaidee Benz", WITH ITS PLAY-ON-WORDS TITLE IS A NATURAL. LIKE MOST OF HER SONGS THIS ONE TOO HAS A DEEP MESSAGE, BUT THERE'S ALSO AN ELEMENT OF FUN TO THE PIECE, AND IT COULD EASILY BE A "DOOR OPENER" AT RADIO FOR SOULES. LIKEWISE, THE NAME-DROPPING "Hot Stuff" has a COMICAL VIEN AND IS SURE TO BE "Pick Hit" FROM THE PACKAGE. OTHER FAVORITES INCLUDE "Garage Sale Weekend", a girls story song, with the dumped boyfriend ending up with a jar of coins after all his stuff was peddled in a garage sale. AND THE INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE SONG "That's Not The Way I Love". THE ALBUM'S ONLY COVER TUNE IS A SOLID REMAKE OF KATHY MATTEA HIT, "Seeds", A SONG CO-PENNED BY CANADIAN-REARED RALPH MURPHY, A MAJOR INFLUENCE IN MERSAIDEE SOULES' CAREER AND PRODUCER OF THIS DEDUT ALBUM, RECORDED IN NASHVILLE.

Top Three Pick's for singles after listening to the entire project several times... You Knew, That Was All She Wrote, Hot Stuff... "The song "You Knew" is the type of song that makes you smile (I certainly did) because it's so relatable and that's really the ultimate goal" Bob Paxman Country Music Weekly Magazine Nashville, TN
