Mersaidee worked with Producer/Friend Lara Bratlein on this Christmas Collection. " I wanted to blend traditional Holiday songs with a fun Bluegrass /Country feel". There is alot of Dobro, Slide and Fiddle which are some of my favorite instruments. Once the songs were picked (with the help of several Christmas song loving friends) I woke up one morning and thought, "I should ask my aunt to sing with me." I knew it was a dream of her's and I wanted her dream to come true. Not even one week later I woke up and thought "I should also ask my Dad". My Dad has lived in our small town for so long and any Christmas we were at the house we'd wake up to Elvis and him singing for the lead. I definitly got my voice from him and grannie and he was thrilled to sing with me. I flew him to Nashville (his first flight) and it was the first time we really got to spend time together, just the two of us. It was awsome...
Lara and I got together a month before we cut tracks and co-wrote two originals. "Here I Am and Salvation Army". Both songs represent the most important Christmas memories I've had. Salvation Army in particular was a magical Christmas memory. Someone (we still don't know who) called the Salvation Army and requested for my family to receive food and gifts. My mom was raising three girls on her own, with three part time jobs. We had next to nothing and out of nowhere this truck pulled up and handed us a big box of food and toys. Us girls were estatic. I'd never had so many toys.... We had a great Christmas dinner and my mom say's that God answered her silent prayer. I am an Angel Tree participant in Nashville and will always be. I know first hand what the Army does for families and it's the best organization in my book. They gave us a miracle Christmas....And whoever you are out there who called the Army on behalf on my family that year....Thank You and God Bless You...Happy Holidays to you and your family all year through!!!A % of the sales of each CD will go to the Angel Tree Program...
