Mervyn Albin got its start back in early 2000 when John Hartwick moved to Edmonton to pursue his musical dreams. Armed with years of classical guitar knowledge, he hooked up with Beau Dodd and decided to switch from guitar to bass to complement Beau’s metal mastery. The two of them jammed forever in a studio in Edmonton, patiently waiting for the right people to come along. Eventually, Beau’s older brother Kelly started coming down to jam. He loved what he heard, and made himself and his pipes available full-time for the band. The crew needed a drummer and found Liam Morgan, a veteran of the Edmonton scene. He jammed with the boys once and joined immediately. They began crafting their songs at a feverish pace and six months later they headed to the studio to record ten tracks. They called it “100% Percent Hurtin Albertan Fer Certain”, and they’re proud to say that the album has caused friends to steal from each other. Enter Cam Baker – an old band-mate of Kelly and Beau’s. He joined on guitar in the fall of 2003, and the band took some time to get things tight with the new notes. Now an unstoppable power posse of five, the band is more motivated than ever and things are starting to roll.

This is a great CD. The bass line is awsome. Vocals right on tune and everything flows great. Love this artist. They are now one of my favs.
