There is an Indian legend that affects all aspects of one’s life….
It was a beautiful summer day on the prairie with a cloudless blue sky up above beaming warm sunshine down upon us when Grandfather came and asked me to walk to the river with him. We found a comfortable spot to sit upon the riverbank and I knew Grandfather had a story to tell. He always did. As a small child I would impatiently ask him to tell his stories, but as I grew older I had learned that Grandfather spoke only when he was ready to speak and that his words were life’s lessons.
We sat in silence for a few hours just watching the world move around us when suddenly Grandfather asked me to throw a pebble into the river. Never questioning his reasons I did as he requested. Then Grandfather asked me, “What do you see?” I told him I only saw the rippling of the water as you could no longer see the pebble. Grandfather said, “The rippling are circles that become larger and larger the further they move from where the pebble has disappeared. That pebble grandson is you, and those circles are all that is affected by you.”
The song ‘Indian Casino’ is as controversial to the Native peoples as it is to the white man. The ruin that alcohol brought to the Native peoples is as great as that of the Indian casinos have brought to the white man. We have learned that fixing ANY problem begins with the “little man” sending a message to ‘All the People’ and the reason we have released this song as a single.
Additionally, we will donate 10% of the sales of this song to the LDR Foundation Appaloosa Trust dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the Foundation Appaloosa horse and hope that you will carry Grandfather’s legend in your hearts forever more….
