PEACEFUL JAZZ
author: jonacoSmooth jazz meets the spiritual- and the mountains meet the coast- on this soft, thoughtful CD of original meditations and familiar hymns. There are only two musicians but they're terrific: Darren Rahn, a very sweet- sounding sax man from Denver, and Taylor Mesple (rhymes with OK) from Maine on keyboards. Darren's especially fine, with his clear horn and smooth style: like Kenny G with better chops. That's the "Western" sound here, meshing with Taylor's tasteful "New England" piano for a nice set of background music that will appeal to all faiths.
