Liner Notes:
Jim created this project with the idea in mind of making a Cuban melodically influenced album that only featured him playing a single acoustic Flamenco guitar and no electric guitars and thus, the birth of “UNDER A MOJITO MOON” Part one.
The album features Jim's Jeff Elliot on trumpet who performed on the album OASIS. Jeff is truly a masterful trumpet player who was able to capture, with the sound of his horn, the ambience of a cigar smoke filled Cuban Music club.
Jim called upon another musician, pianist friend of his, J.D. Daniels, whose contribution to the album delivered both a traditional Cuban approach but with a modern interpretation of those classical changes.
Santa Barbara percussionist, Lorenzo Martinez joined in on congas for a number of the arrangements blending a smooth rhythmic stitch throughout the material. Michael Brady (vocalist and bass player on the album MESSINA) sang harmony with Jim on “UNDER A MOJITO MOON” as did Chris Pelonis, wit his background vocals on the song, “We Gotta Get Back”
All the bass parts were written and performed by Jim Messina. The drum arrangements were written, programed and performed by Jim Messina on Kurzweil. Special thanks goes out to Tris Imboden for his effort in making sure that all the parts could be played by a drummer on an a trap set for the purpose of live performance.
