Album Notes

Metasomatic is a one-man home-grown project from Northern Illinois.

Members: Jay Laurent - Guitars, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Keyboards, Writing, Recording, Producing, Mixing.

There are many influences that can be picked out from the music. Most of them are from or have roots in 90s alternative. The mixture is such that it does not fit into or copy-cat a certain genre.

This album represents work started roughly 2003 and finished in 2007. The songs were not recorded in a marathon fashion, but all at different times throughout this period. Therefore, each song catches a different mood and inspiration, is recorded and mixed differently, and sticks out from the rest of the songs on the album. The result is a long playing album that does not tire the listener with songs that sound exactly like each other. The music can occasionally be hard-hitting, but also brings in an acoustic style. Overall, the album has a mellow energy about it despite being rock at the core.

This is the first Metasomatic album, hopefully to be followed by many more in the future.
