Album Notes

Methuselah Jones began with a bang. The first song they ever wrote, It's Over, won 6th place in the pop category of the International John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

From that point they have never looked back, with two appearances at New York's prestigious CMJ festival and performances at top New York venues including Mercury Lounge, Shine and Saci NYC for Entertainment Weekly magazine. In addition to developing a devoted, ever-expanding following, they have been profiled and reviewed in national and on-line publications.

Methuselah Jones has received radio play and on-air appearances, most notably on WLIR, Long Island's Best Music.

Led by the emotionally charged vocals of Jamie Obstbaum, who COSMOgirl.com credits as having an "amazing bluesy voice that will make you completely forget about Fiona Apple!", Methuselah Jones has a vibrant approach to pop music, enhancing the traditional pop band instrumentation by prominently featuring the 7-string bass, violin and mandolin in their line-up. The songs are melodically rich and lyrically ripe evoking a strong feeling of familiarity with a sound that you've never heard before.

Methuselah Jones draws in devotees with their outstanding songwriting and magnetic live shows. Big things are on the horizon for Methuselah Jones in the not too distant future.

Methuselah Jones are: Jamie Obstbaum, vocals; Antoine Silverman, violin/mandolin; Dan Ehrenhaft, guitar; Dan Cooper, bass guitar; Tobias Gebb, drums.

REVIEWS

Are there other songs? This is an excellent CD.

This is one of my favorite CDs, it's too bad this group didn't release more music. There are only 8 songs on here and I have nothing else. I'm not a New Yorker so I never even had a chance to see them live. If there is anyone out there with other recordings or bootlegs of their shows, I'd very much appreciate an e-mail: LifSadral@excite.com

As good as the CD is, MJ is even better live.

Methuselah Jones are a great band, that I came across on accident. A guy I was dating took me to one of their shows and I so loved them that I bought the CD that night. The CD is really good. I love Jamies vocals and the music is the perfect frame for her expressive singing and lyrics. I can't wait for the next one.

A good CD that mixes the acoustic styles of the East with the progression and nerve of the US - a very emotional album.
