The debut album, who do you think you are? is available September, 2011, on the band’s own Pretty Decent Records label. Basic tracks were recorded at House of Vibes studio in Highland Park, NJ, with additional recording done over a two year period in members’ basement home studios. The album was mixed and engineered by studio-wizard Kurt Reil, drummer for the critically-acclaimed Grip Weeds. Reil's extensive knob-twiddling credits include his own band as well legendary NJ pop masters, the Smithereens.
who do you think you are? is not about aloof, indie subtlety. Instead, meyerman’s strengths lie in vintage power chords and simple pop melodies. Songwriter theo meyer comfortably mixes lyrical moments of self-aware humor with cutting reflections on lives led in modern suburbia. A thread of British Invasion influence weaves in and out of the tracks, giving the album a quality that is joyfully out of step. who do you think you are? skips from clever tongue-in-cheek rawkers like "permission to rock you" and "metalface", to the social commentary of "immaculate mansions", to earnest pop tunes like "get to you" and "indecision & inertia". Throughout, meyer’s sneering, nasal delivery lends an independent charm all its own. The result is an album that loudly bangs on the door, demanding admission to the Pantheon of power pop.
David Bash, founder of the International Pop Overthrow festival calls meyerman “A great power-pop band...awesome songwriting, great melodies... everything you could ever want in a band."
