Album Notes

This Vancouver based indie-folk pop artist's debut album Cascadia will wear-in to your heart like a good pair of jeans.

"Sensitive Performance by the Musicians
In This very enlightened music"
- Avi_Studio from Tel Aviv, Israel (Garageband.com)

Cascadia is both a homecoming and a farewell album, imagined in his last destitute months in Germany, and scarcely finished before departing for Sweden to follow his love (once again destitute). Please be advised that you should attain the album and share it with friends. Be generous. It features lovely cover-art by Melanie Colenutt. Matthew has begun work on a second album in an apartment in dark Sweden.

Born in Chilliwack Matt grew up in the palm of the Rockies an hour from the coast and his future home in Vancouver, after studying in Vancouver, Matthew has become a world traveler spending time studying in Germany, finding love in airports, and delivering mail in Sweden. Matt's appreciation for natural beauty is embedded deeply in his music, with songs inspired by picturesque landscapes and the changing of the seasons.

"Matthew Friesen takes the listener on a journey through an acoustic wilderness. This Vancouver-based singer-songwriter puts an indie spin on the folk tradition... The natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest shines through on Friesen's elegant compositions."
- Editor's Review, music.download.com:

Phil Riley and Matthew Friesen stayed up many late nights ordering pizza and running around in socks to record this album. It was a hectic month for us before Matt left to his adventures in Sweden. The rest of the project happened in the next year and a half, with Matt overseas having the help of many and the hard-work of few.

Comments on Laurasia:
"Guitar harmonies blended with the voices. Nice simple beat, the chords changes were not as expected.
This is a nice song... top notch. I liked that neither the male or female vocals tried to take the song.
I enjoyed this song, I could not think of a band that you sounded like. That is not a problem.
Good luck this is good stuff. "
