Album Notes

Michael Heaton is a singer/songwriter from the small town of Montgomery , Il.(about 50 miles west of Chicago). Musically best described as Midwestern-pop or Acoustic Rock Michael blends elements of pop and country styles to create a sound uniquely his own.

Michael has recently finished recording the follow up to his debut CD in Nashville, TN. at Moraine studios, where he employed the help of a number of Nashville's best studio musicians. The list includes mandolin virtuoso Sam Bush, drummer Eddie Bayers, bassist Dave Pomeroy and keyboardist Steve Conn. The disc titled "Our Little Secret" was produced by producer/guitarist Pat Bergeson.

In the summer of 2000 Michael released his debut 13-track solo effort "Learning Curve" (Artichoke Records). The CD is a mix of country, pop, rock and folk styles and won over many fans and critics. The disc featured many guest musicians including guitarist
Jay Bennett of Wilco on the opening track.

In 1991 Michael's first working band The X-Tras released "Kaboom" a collection of 12 of Michael's songs. Later that same year he formed the power-pop trio CUT. The band played around Chicago and the Midwest and released two Heaton penned projects, the self-titled debut "CUT" ('93) and the band's swan song "Rest In Pieces" ('95). After the break up of Cut, Michael began performing as a solo act in coffee houses and clubs. He also began touring with Chicago's Irish favorites The Drovers as a member of their road crew and as a part time opening act.

REVIEWS

This is some really great music!!!
author: Rick Lozano
I happened to stumble upon Michael Heaton's stuff, and I am so incredibly glad I did. His music is infectious as hell, a mix of folk, country, pop, rock, and just downright good songwriting and musicianship. Some of the music takes a tongue-in-cheek, lighthearted take on life while other songs are poignant truths about the human condition, life, love, and loss. This album has me taken in for the long ride.
